Kern County Public Health shut down a market in Taft over multiple food storage violations.

The county closed Asher Street Market on 228 Asher St. according to a report on the health department’s website.

In that report, dated May 25, the county reports inspectors found potentially hazardous foods like milk, whipped cream and deli meats stored in walk-in cooler at over 50 degrees. Inspectors also found a “slimy, black residue” on soda dispenser nozzles.

Inspectors also found cases of drinks sitting on the bathroom floor.

It’s unclear when the market will re-open.
