Kern County Fire crews were able to save several homes from the Lynn Fire Friday afternoon.
Officials said crews were called out to the fire at around 2:30 p.m. off Highway 65 in the area of Poso Creek.
At first the fire threatened six homes, but Andrew Freeborn of the Kern County Fire Department credited those homeowners for clearing brush near their homes preventing the fire from getting closer. No homes were damaged Freeborn said.
Crews stopped forward progress of the fire at around 4:30 p.m.
In all, about 81 acres burned in the fire.
There were no reported injuries to residents, animals or firefighters, Freeborn added.
