County health inspectors closed down an Oildale market because of a rodent infestation.

In an inspection report dated Jan. 9, the county said AKAL Market at 329 Roberts Lane had a rodent infestation but continued to sell food and beverages.

The report noted inspectors saw rodent droppings throughout and even saw a dead rat still in a trap by an ice machine.

The report also noted the market had leaky piping and debris throughout the market.

The market will have to sanitize and clean the store before re-opening.
