Coroner’s office identifies pedestrian who died from injuries in January crash

The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a 28 year old man who died in February from his injuries after he was hit by a car on Chester Avenue.

The coroner said Christopher Ray Sierra died of his injuries at Kern Medical 10 days after being hit on Jan. 25 in the 1000 block of Chester Avenue.

Bakersfield police said Sierra was crossing Chester Avenue in his manual wheelchair outside of the crosswalk just before 6 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver didn’t see him.

Sierra died on Feb. 2.

Pedestrian safety is an issue tracked by 17 News. The coroner’s office released Sierra’s identity Thursday.
