Coroner identifies man’s body found in field south of McFarland

UPDATE (May 23): The coroner’s office said the man whose body was discovered in a field south of McFarland was stabbed to death.

The Kern County County Sheriff’s Office said 18-year-old Markus Damian Aboytes had multiple stab wounds on his body. 

Aboytes’ body was found near Whisler Road and Highway 99 on May 18.

UPDATE (May 21): The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the man whose body was found in a field in McFarland last Friday.

The coroner said the man was 18-year-old Markus Damian Aboytes of Delano.

A cause of death is still under investigation.

Kern County Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are looking into the death of a man whose body was found south of McFarland Friday morning.

Officials said the man’s body was discovered by a field worker at 6:15 a.m. near Whisler Road and Highway 99. They said the man’s body showed “obvious traumatic injuries.”

The victim’s identity is not known.
