BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County got together to show their passion for improving the health of local babies.
Hundreds of people came out to The Park at River Walk Saturday morning to march for babies at the March of Dimes Event.
They’re supporting and raising awareness about the importance of prenatal care.
Organizers say babies born prematurely are at greater risk of death.
“So, this is a remember, hope and celebrate event, we remember all the babies that are survivors, and that did not survive, we hope for a future that all babies will be born healthy,” said Development Manager, Marissa Speelman.
Advocates say expecting mothers should take prenatal vitamins, avoid drinking and smoking and take good care of themselves.
