March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness month, and Adventist Health Bakersfield is celebrating with free screenings.
According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer affects roughly one in 21 men and one in 23 women in the United States.
Adventist Health says it is the second leading cause of cancer death in women and the third in men, and with early detection and improved treatments – survival rates have improved.
Information on preventing cancer will be provided, along with a giant inflatable colon to serve as an educational tool.
The event will take place tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at AIS Cancer Center located at 2620 Chester Ave.
