Coffee shop owners say they and other Downtown businesses were burglarized overnight

News

Coffee shop owners say their Downtown Bakersfield location was broken into overnight.

The co-owners of Blue Oak Coffee Roasting on 20th Street said they showed up early Tuesday morning to start getting things ready for the day, but arrived to a shattered door and a missing register.

They called police and found out four other Downtown Bakersfield businesses had been also been burglarized.

“They took our register, and our gumball machine, and some coffee on the way out,” Cynthia Price, co-owner of the Blue Oak Coffee Roasting said.

But they didn’t let the break-in stop them from opening up for service Tuesday.

The two owners got started in Tehachapi before moving to Downtown Bakersfield. They say they love the location despite the break-in and really appreciate how customers have responded to the news.

Meanwhile, 17 News reached out to Bakersfield police to learn more about the other break-ins that the owners mentioned, but have not heard from officials for this report.
