The city of McFarland’s contract with the Kern County Fire Department is set to end this summer, and a new one has not been announced.
McFarland and the county fire department have not been able to agree on a new contract since 2017.
At issue: Kern County Fire has argued for McFarland to pay more, but the city doesn’t have the money, and that the Kern County Fire Department has its own financial issues to sort out.
The contract is on the agenda for the Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting.
