The city of Bakersfield has found itself at the receiving end of a lawsuit by two groups accusing it of holding illegal closed meetings.

The first amendment coalition and California Aware filed the suit Friday arguing the city couldn’t justify closed meetings about tax reform and revenue concerns.

The meetings took place between July and September.

Likewise, the group says the city violated records keeping laws by not releasing certain documents to be available to the public.
