Christmas comes early for over 100 students in Head Start program

A national non-profit teamed up with an energy giant to bring an early Christmas to kids in Bakersfield.

Aera Energy and United Way Kern County brought books and gifts to children at Head Start on Pacific Street with some help from Santa Claus.

Human resources manager Javier Lozano said the gifts were donated or paid for out of Aera’s budget.

“As we look around the community it’s the perfect time of the year and this Pacfic Head Start is a great school and needs support from the community and we want to be there,” Lozano said.

Since many of the kids, come from agricultural families, their parents may not be working during winter, so United Way and Aera wanted to make sure they still had something under their tree.
