CHP plans to ramp up patrol on Thanksgiving weekend

Holidays can be some of the most dangerous times for roadways.

California Highway Patrol says Thanksgiving weekend can be one of our state’s deadliest. CHP says traffic fatalities shot up 61 percent last year during Thanksgiving weekend with 50 people dying on the road.

Across the state, CHP is activating a Max Enforcement Period, meaning all available officers will be on patrol.

THe MEP starts at 6 a.m. Thursday and will continue until midnight on Sunday.

As always, if you see an impaired driver, call 911.
