UPDATE (Feb. 12, 2019, 5:48 p.m.):
The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the bicyclist killed in East Bakersfield on Monday night.
The coroner said 60-year-old Richard Arnez Armstrong Sr. was struck and killed by a vehicle on Oswell Street, north of Alloway Lane.
A bicyclist was killed after being hit by a car in Southeast Bakersfield Monday night.
A Bakersfield man was riding his bicycle westbound on Alloway Lane without lights and reflectors when he entered into the intersection at Oswell Street around 10 p.m., not stopping for traffic, according to CHP.
CHP said a driver in a Dodge hit the bicyclist.
The bicyclist died at the scene.
CHP said they do not suspect drug or alcohol.
The Kern County coroner’s office will release the identity of the bicyclist.
CHP reminds bicyclists that at least one headlight and reflectors are required during the hours of darkness. They add wearing bright colored clothing with reflectors is highly reccommended.
