Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired reaches settlement with state


A local non-profit for the blind, reached a settlement over allegations of fraud.

The Department of Rehabilitation investigated the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in 2016. According to search warrants, the department claims the center fraudulently billed them for more than $80,000.

As part of the settlement, the center will pay close to $60,000 to resolve those billing issues and end the dispute.

No criminal charges were ever filed.
