Car crashes into property in Central Bakersfield

News

A car crashed into a property in Central Bakersfield Wednesday morning, according to witnesses.

The crash happened around 5 a.m. at a home near A Street and Chester Lane.

The homeowner said it looked like two people were attempting to steal another car in the neighborhood.

“So there was a guy down the street that was, he came out, and saw that they were attempting to take his girlfriend’s car,” Joshua Maier said. “So he kind of fast and furioused, and they jumped back into the white car and he had ahold of the hood, and as he was getting into the sunroof to stop them, I guess, they got really scared, slammed on the pedal, and that’s when they popped up the curb and hit everything.”

Police responded to the scene.

A woman was caught, but a man got away, Maier said.

He said there have been several recent vehicle robberies in the area.
