Boil water advisory issued after water main break in Northwest Bakersfield

News

Cal Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for residents in the Summerlyn subdivision in Northwest Bakersfield after a water main break.

Cal Water says a water main burst as a contractor was working in the area and shut off water to residents in the neighborhood.

The affected area stretches from Reina on the north to Vega Meadows on the south, and between Renfro and Allen Road.

Cal Water says after water is restored residents should boil tap water or use bottled water for drinking, preparing food and brushing teeth.

You should boil tap water used for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth for at least one minute.

Affected residents will also be reimbursed for water bought during the advisory. Instructions for receiving reimbursements will be on notices delivered to homes.

Bottled water will be distributed at the Cal Water facility at 5108 Trinidad Lake Way until midnight Friday, Jan. 25 and will be re-open on Saturday, Jan. 26 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.
