Blaine Hodge will receive the 2019 Citizen Honors Award in Washington D.C. Monday, March 25.
Hodge was nominated two weeks ago for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society Citizen Honors Award for the Single Act of Heroism category.
In September 2018, a woman rushed into Starbucks screaming about a man trying to kill her. The man, Robert Rivas, entered the coffee shop armed with a machete.
Hodge intervened and threw Rivas away from the woman.
Hodge was attacked and suffered several stab wounds to his hands, stomach and leg.
A ceremony will be held in Washington D.C. to recognize recipients for the following categories: Single Act of Heroism, Service Act, Young Hero, and Community Service Hero.
