Bike Rodeo teaches safety basics to local youths

News

Bike Bakersfield invited the community to an educational event Wednesday, teaching children the basics of bike safety.

The Bike Rodeo event was held at the Baker Street Library.

The event featured an obstacle course designed to mimic road conditions in order to prepare young riders how to safely maneuver on real-road streets, according to organizers.

The Bike Rodeo event continues Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rathbun Library in Oildale.

Bike Bakersfield is also hosting a full moon ride Thursday at 8 p.m., beginning at Beach Park on Oak and 21st Streets.

The ride heads through the Kern River Parkways Trail and California State University, Bakersfield, ending at the Marketplace on Ming Avenue.
