A local nonprofit was the victim of theft for the second time this month.

Bike Bakersfield’s downtown location was broken into Sunday night. The shop will be open Memorial Day despite the burglary.

You don’t have to burglarize the store to get your hands on a free bike, Bike Bakersfield wants to remind the community that volunteers can earn a free bike by working 12 hours during business hours.

Bakersfield Police Department quickly responded and nothing was stolen, according to Bike Bakersfield.

Earlier this month, Bike Arvin was broken into and a burglar got away with a handful of scooters. Police are still investigating that incident.

If you have any information on these recent burglaries, contact Arvin police at 661-854-5583 or Bakersfield police at 661-327-7111.
