A former Driller will now lead the Drillers. Michael Stewart was introduced as the new varsity head football coach at Bakersfield High School on Thursday.
Stewart was welcomed at a press conference at the campus as he greeted and met with future student-athletes.
Stewart, a BHS alum, played at Fresno State and 10 seasons in the NFL. He was also an assistant coach at Ventura College and Ventura High School.
BHS hired Stewart as its ninth head coach in school history.
The Drillers finished the 2018 season with a 9-4 season after losing to Central in the semifinals of the CIF Central Section Division 1 playoffs.
