The Bakersfield City School District and its teachers union have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
The three-year agreement includes a 2 percent pay raise retroactive to last July.
Last month, 17 News reported negotiations were at a standstill and that the Bakersfield Elementary Teachers’ Association wanted more.
The school district says the new agreement also includes new benefits such as paid parental leave and additional personal days.
BETA will vote to ratify the contract on April 3.
Then it must be approved by BCSD Board of Education.
Meantime, the district and BETA will continue to negotiate the finer points of the contract through mediation.
