Bank of America has awarded $55,000 in grants to multiple Kern County nonprofits for sustainability projects, according to a news release.

The bank announced Thursday the grants were sent to eight local nonprofits: Garden Pathways, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bakersfield, Bakersfield Art Foundation, Inc., California State University, Bakersfield Foundation, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fresno, Dress for Success Bakersfield, Habitat for Humanity International, Inc., and Junior Achievement of Southern California.

The grants are intended for funding efforts to improve “workforce readiness and education,” “basic needs such as hunger relief and shelter,” and “economic development helping entire neighborhoods prosper,” Bank of America said.

The bank did not specify how much money was sent to each individual organization.
