A Bakersfield woman was allegedly killed by a state corrections officer on Saturday in Las Vegas, KGET’s sister station, KLAS reports.

Cheri Anaya, 32, of Bakersfield, died of a gunshot wound to the head, Clark County coroner released. Anaya’s body was found by her two young children on Saturday in a home in southeast Las Vegas, according to KLAS. One of them called 911 to report her death.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified Christopher Gerard Caggiano, 41, a Nevada state correctional officer as the suspect.

Detectives say he is Anaya’s former boyfriend and father of her children, according to KLAS.

Investigators say Caggiano and Anaya had an argument the night before.

Caggiano is believed to be driving a white 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV with Nevada license plate 69B230.
