It’s no list any city wants to make, but Bakersfield has cracked the top 20 for America’s most dangerous large cities according to a home security group.

The The National Council for Home Safety and Security’s survey has Bakersfield ranked at No. 14.

The survey’s criteria uses violent crime rate average and police adequacy for populations over 100,000.

Police adequacy is defined as the total number of crimes divided by the number of police officers servicing a city.

Springfield, Missouri is ranked as the most dangerous city on that list.

Vallejo is No. 5 as the highest ranking for any city in California. Modesto is No. 12, Oakland is No. 5.
