While you’re building up a sweat at your local gym, law enforcement is reminding you to be mindful of protecting yourself against car break-ins.
Bakersfield police said it has seen a spike in vehicle burglaries in gym parking lots across the city.
Police said you should always lock your car and that you shouldn’t keep anything in plain sight in your car that might invite a thief.
Officials said things like loose change, a pair of sunglasses, electronics or even a bag you know is empty could attract a burglar.
Of course, if there is an emergency you should call 911.
