A Bakersfield police detective was honored for his work in a critical gang sweep last year.

Bakersfield police Det. Bob Pair was honored with the U.S. District Attorney’s Office Fresno division’s Outstanding Investigator award.

Pair was recognized for his work as a case agent for Operation Blind Mice — a multi-agency investigation into Bakersfield’s West Side Crips gang.

As a member of the department’s gang squad, he brought extensive knowledge on the West Side Crips to the investigation the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

In that December 2017 raid, 11 West Side Crips members were indicted on federal charges. Thirty others were charged with other crimes ranging from burglary to murder.
