Bakersfield police arrested four people and impounded their cars for the ongoing problem of street racing in Southwest Bakersfield.
Police said Lemuel Dung Goling, Alfonso Marin, Alejandro Ocampo and Alexis Marquez were arrested Saturday night and were linked to street racing in various parts of Bakersfield.
Many residents have expressed concerns over the constant racing in and around their neighborhoods.
“You constantly have this anxiety when you hear the cars going, because you hear the screeching and wondering is this one going to be an accident … Is this one coming through our fence?” resident Marilyn Gorman said.
“We’re just as concerned about the driver of the vehicle as we are ourselves. We don’t want to see anybody hurt.”
All four of the accused street racers were booked on various charges including reckless driving and illegal speed contests.
They are all currently out on bail.
