Bakersfield mother killed in Las Vegas, ex-boyfriend wanted

A Nevada correctional officer is on the run, accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend in Las Vegas. The woman, who the officer had children with, lives in Bakersfield.

Police said Cheri Anaya was staying with her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Caggiano over the weekend. They got into a fight Friday night. Saturday morning, Anaya was dead.

Anaya’s nine-year-old daughter called police Saturday morning — saying her mother wasn’t breathing.
Investigators say 32-year-old Anya was lying in a pool of blood. The coroner said she was shot in the neck and head.
Records show Caggiano lives at the Las Vegas home. When police arrived, he was nowhere to be found.

Court records show Anaya and Caggiano have two children together, twins. Police said two children were in the home with Anya’s body.

Caggiano is believed to be driving a 2017 white Nissan Rogue SUV with Nevada license plate 69B230. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call Las Vegas police at 702-828-3521.
