Students and professionals have the chance to solve local community issues through collaboration and technology at the second annual Bakersfield College Public Health Renegades Hackathon.
This year’s Hackathon theme is health and justice, two issues topical to Kern County. Participants will pitch, program and present functioning technology application that addresses the following topics: air quality, access to quality health care, food insecurity, human trafficking, and public health outreach.
Teams will be formed at the event and participation is encouraged from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
The hackathon runs Thursday 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., continues Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and concludes on Saturday, with the final teamwork competitions in the afternoon.
