Bakersfield Burrito Project receives over $2,000 from local orthodontist

News

The Bakersfield Burrito Project received its first ever check from a local orthodontist.

The Bakersfield Burrito Project is self-funded, and Dr. Mike Thurman of Thurman Orthodontics donated a portion of funds earned from each patient at his practice.

Dr. Thurman raised close to $2,300 for the non-profit.

“I knew our funds were staying here in the community that we all live and work, and wanted to something to really support the local community,” he said.

“This was one that was special and different and that we wanted to align with.”

The check will feed roughly $2,400 homeless people in Bakersfield.
