Ashes of woman’s fiance stolen from Northeast Bakersfield home

A local woman is asking for help after a burglar stole her fiance’s remains from her Northeast Bakersfield home.

Cheyenne Morales says it happened Monday morning as she was returning home on Kern Street, off Quincy Avenue.

When she walked inside, someone had taken the urn holding the ashes of her fiance, Daniel Church.

Church, a local body builder and writer, died in July of 2017.

She says of everything that was stolen — from a vintage camera to the money from her sons’ piggy banks —  they just want the ashes back.

“I wish you no harm. I wish nothing bad come upon you, I wish that you just bring them back. I just want them back,” Morales said.

“Everything else is of monetary value, has no value to me, just his ashes are what I plead and beg for.”

Bakersfield police are handling the case. If you have any information that can help, you can call Bakersfield police at 327-7111.
