He was born just minutes after the clock struck midnight on Christmas morning. Now, the parents of newborn Sergio Fabian Garcia Jr. are calling his birth a Christmas miracle.
Sergio Fabian Garcia Jr. came into our world 12:21 a.m. Christmas morning at Memorial Hospital.
“It’s a huge miracle for us,” his father Sergio Fabian Garcia Sr., said. “Christmas miracle, yes.”
His parents said they were feeling blessed this Christmas because their newborn son was born earlier than predicted, yet arrived happy and healthy, coming in at nine pounds, six ounces.
“I feel so blessed to have him this day. Since we were given a later date of birth, it is the most precious gift we could have received,” Garcia Sr. said of his first son.
Mother Macrina Cervantes Garcia said she was feeling great following the birth.
“Muy feliz,” she said in Spanish, speaking of her happiness on the occasion. Her husband translated, saying his wife is “feeling happy and thankful with God because the baby was born in excellent condition.”
Her husband said this date will forever be even more special for the Garcia family.
“We’re going to celebrate with so much joy,” Garcia Sr. said. “Especially remembering this date that our little boy was born on Christmas. It’s more than we could ever ask, so I want to say our little miracle boy here, our first boy, born on Christmas. What else could we ask for?”
A representative from Dignity Health Memorial Hospital said five babies were born at the hospital during the holiday.
