Kern County Public Health Services reports two more people have died of flu-related illness this season, bringing the total number of flu-related deaths to four.
The county also says 10 people have been hospitalized because of the flu.
Symptoms of flu include fever, cough, sore throat, chills, fatigue, body aches, and headache.
The county says the best method to prevent getting the flu is by getting a flu vaccine every year, washing hands frequently, and avoiding those who may be ill.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends an annual flu vaccine for everyone over 6 months of age.
You can make an appointment to get a flu vaccine at the health department by calling 661-321-3000.
