Four defendants can receive the death penalty if convicted in a case where they’re accused of shooting a man to death outside the Regency Bowling Alley in September.

Danny Willis, Gary Pierson Jr., Gary Clayton and Skylor Billings all face the death penalty in the shooting that killed 50-year-old Edwin Smith and wounded four others.

The group was arrested as part of the long-ranging gang sweep conducted against the West Side Crips by local and federal law enforcement on Dec. 12.

Billings was arrested in July during a traffic stop where police say one of the occupants ran from the car, went into a nearby store an attempted to get rid of a gun.
