2-year-old’s parents stop kidnapping attempt at MLK Jr. Park; Police arrest woman for kidnapping

Bakersfield police arrested a 21-year-old woman for kidnapping at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

Police said on June 20, officers were called to the park for a report of an attempted kidnapping of a 2-year-old boy.

Police said the 21-year-old identified as Felicia Ascencio-Guillen, picked up the 2-year-old and tried to walk away with him. The boy’s parents were nearby, stopped the woman and were able to free the child, police said.

Ascencio-Guillen was booked for kidnapping, child endangerment and an unrelated misdemeanor arrest warrant.
