A baby is recovering after suffering major injuries in a suspected DUI crash south of Arvin.
On Tuesday just after midnight, Evelyn Flores Ocampo, 26, of Arvin, was driving south at an unknown speed on Wheeler Ridge Road, north of Teale Road when she lost control, according to California Highway Patrol.
Ocampo’s car overturned and landed on its roof in a canal, according to CHP.
Her 2-year-old passenger sustained major injuries and was transported to Madera Children’s Hospital, according to officers. The child was properly strapped in a car seat, officers reported.
Ocampo was was placed under arrest for DUI, according to CHP. She was transported to Kern Medical for major injuries.
