Bakersfield police said a 2-year-old boy playing in a motel parking lot was struck and killed by a car Friday afternoon. The driver of the car was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The collision occurred at around 2 p.m.
Bakersfield police Sgt. Mike Gerrity said the boy who was riding a scooter was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver, identified as 55-year-old LaDanna Samara-Morales, was later arrested suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana.
