A defendant in a shooting from last October took a plea deal Wednesday.
Fabian Prieto, 19, pleaded guilty to assault with a firearm. In exchange, an attempted murder charge against him was dismissed.
Prieto shot another man in an alley off Monterey Street in the middle of the afternoon on Oct. 18.
That man suffered minor to moderate wounds.
Prieto’s sentencing is scheduled for June 7.
