An 18-year-old man is in custody and faces a murder charge for shooting and killing another man in Wasco in late January.

Daniel Garcia, 18, is accused of murdering 20-year-old Raul Quintana of Wasco. Quintana’s body was found on Jan. 29 in an orchard two miles north of McCombs and Scofield avenues.

Quintana’s body was discovered by a farmworker just before 8 a.m. that day. Investigators said Quintana appeared to have been shot several times.

Kern County Sheriff’s officials said Garcia was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 13 and booked into Kern County Jail for first-degree murder.

Garcia is due in court Thursday afternoon.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the killing and asks anyone with information to call them at 861-3110 or call Secret Witness at 322-4040.
