The scene of a small plane crash in eastern Sioux Falls will remain secure by authorities Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue said the National Transportation Safety Board has been contacted to conduct an investigation of the plane crash. Sioux Falls Emergency Manager Regan Smith said the plane was heading south when it crashed.
Smith added more information will be released at police briefing at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue will hold another news briefing on the small plane crash in eastern Sioux Falls at 7 p.m.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue said one person is dead after a small engine plane crashed in a residential neighborhood in eastern Sioux Falls. The plane crashed on S. Birchwood Ave.
Four houses in the area have been evacuated. One house has exterior damage.

A small plane crash damaged two houses in eastern Sioux Falls Tuesday evening.
First response crews are responding to the scene near 51st Street and Birchwood Ave.
