1 arrested, multiple cited in DUI/driver’s license checkpoint in NW Bakersfield

One person was arrested for driving while high on marijuana during a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in Northwest Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. 

Police conducted the checkpoint between 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Calloway Drive. 

More than 1,400 vehicles were screened. 

In addition to the arrest, nine people were cited for driving without a license, and nine more were found to be driving on a suspended license, according to police. 

Police said anyone who suspects an impaired driver on the roadways is encouraged to call 911.
