1 arrest, 1 facility closed in county massage parlor sting

News

Kern County public health officials and the sheriff’s office said they closed one massage parlor and made one arrest in undercover stings on Wednesday.

Kern Public Health Services says it shut down Angel Massage located at 1906 E. California Ave. where deputies arrested a woman, identified as Hiu May, for solicitation of prostitution.

Another sting at Paradise Spa located at 919 N. Chester Ave. resulted in the citation of a woman, identified as Niu Guiying, for exposure of another person.

Officials said Angel Massage was closed because a massage practitioner was not certified by the state and working while having undergarments exposed.

So far this year, the county says it has conducted 15 stings at local massage parlors resulting in 15 arrests.

Anyone who suspects illicit activity at a massage facility is asked to call Kern County Public Health Services at 321-3000.
