Fleeing Suspect Gets Stuck In Florida Swamp

National News

A man accused of assaulting a Florida sheriff’s deputy was captured by Pasco deputies Tuesday after he tried to get away by running into a swamp.

Video released by the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office shows the man in neck-deep mud unable to flee as a PCSO K9 deputy licks him.

“Taze me, taze me,” Paul Daniel Smith yells, along with a string of obscenities.

It all began Tuesday when a Hernando County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to arrest Smith, who fought back and fled with one handcuff on his wrist.

A Pasco deputy later spotted Smith’s truck and a chase began.

Smith eventually got out of the truck and ran into a wooded, swampy area.
