California Nun Adopts Scared Stray Dog

National News

An animal shelter in California is helping a nun heal her heart by sponsoring an adoption that was heaven-sent.

A stray Chihuahua named Barbie came into the Palm Springs Animal Shelter over a month ago.

“She’s been terrified. She hides, she shakes; we’ve been trying so hard to work with her and get her to calm down, and she just never stops shaking,” said Bonny Birch who works at the shelter.

A few days ago, Sister Maria had to put her dog down, and decided to visit the shelter to ease her heavy heart.

When Staff members introduced her to Barbie, the skittish dog immediately stopped shaking.

Birch later sponsored the adoption after learning that Sister Maria could not afford the fee to take Barbie home.
