Best Eats: Deep pit beef sandwich from Martin’s Meats

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — On a chilly Friday, 17 News producer Katie Avery chose a deep pit beef sandwich from Martin’s Meats on 21st Street to keep her warm.

She had the sandwich, called “Audrey’s Favorite,” with salsa and barbecue sauce in separate containers so she could add to taste, plus pepper jack cheese.

“The bread is toasted and the deep pit beef is perfectly seasoned,” Avery said. “Chips and a soda complete the meal. The sandwich is quite large, so those with smaller stomachs can eat half for lunch and half for dinner, but you might find it difficult to stop.”
