You can show your support for local war veterans and Honor Flight Kern County to raise money so those vets can visit memorials in their honor.

On Saturday, May 5, the Knights of Columbus Council 977 will be selling tri-tip sandwiches and chile verde for Honor Flight Kern County.

The drive thru-dine in takes place between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 26 at 2020 H St.

For $10, you can get a tri-tip sandwich, a side of beans and a bag of chips. You can park and stop in for lunch and get a chile verde plate with beans and rice for $8.

By the time you’ve had lunch Saturday, another group of 16 veterans will already be Washington, D.C. for the latest Honor Flight. The war heroes will be back in Bakersfield Monday night.

You can welcome them back home Monday, May 7 at Meadows Field at 8:30 p.m. Free parking will be available for people welcoming the veterans home.
