A group of local veterans ended their Kern County Honor Flight trip with a bit of bad luck overnight.

Lili Marsh with Honor Flight says one of the returning busses broke down in Castaic, while another of the busses lost its air conditioning.

Their welcome home party at Liberty High School was meant to begin around 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Unfortunately, because of all the delays, those 57 veterans returned to Bakersfield around 11 p.m. last night.

Thankfully, people still waited to greet the veterans with a proper “welcome home.”
