Howl-O-Ween Extravaganza

It was a Howl-O-Ween Extravaganza on the west side of Bakersfield, Saturday.

The event was put on by Pet MatchMaker Animal Rescue for the third year.

Pet MatchMaker is a non-profit organization that rescues homeless and unwanted dogs from high-kill shelters, and abusive and neglectful situations in Kern County.

A pumpkin patch, zombie shoot, face painting and a witch’s ring toss helped kick off festivities.

And for the adults, a beer garden courtesy of Temblor Brewing.

All of the proceeds will go back to the upkeep and care of Pet Matchmaker Rescue’s animals and their facility.

“We are doing this to benefit our animals and improving our facility, we are currently working on building a surgery room so that we can do spay and neuters for animals, and help with outreach in our community,” said Morgan Sokolow, Director of Pet MatchMaker.

The non-profit was able to raise the amount needed to help with the materials needed for the surgeries to take place.

Pet MatchMaker encourages anyone, including children, to come volunteer with their organization.
