Hello Humankindness: Church volunteers answer the call

Volunteers from out of town came together this weekend to help the homeless by supporting The Mission at Kern County.

Church members from Moorpark, a suburb of Ventura County, volunteered their time by helping pick up trash for The Mission.

“We have a lot going on here in Kern County with regards to homelessness,” said Carlos Baldovinos, director of The Mission at Kern County. “We need all hands on deck to help us, whether it’s serving a meal, or it’s doing a food drive at their church or their neighborhood, or just getting toiletry baskets together, just to help our homeless neighbors in this community.”

The Mission at Kern County is in need of volunteers in their Kitchen, Facilities, Donation Center and also in the children’s day center in the new Lee and Krystyna Jamieson Recovery Home for Women and Children.  If you’re interested in volunteering, you are encouraged to call the shelter at (661) 325-0863.
