Buena Vista Museum gets augmented reality sandbox teaching kids earth science

A new sandbox exhibit has been added to the Buena Vista Museum, but it’s no ordinary playground sandbox.

The Buena Vista Museum of Natural History and Science unveiled the Augmented Reality Sandbox, also known as the iSandBox.

The conventional sand comes to life, giving children the chance to learn about the Earth, geology and history, while stimulating creativity and developing imagination.

“Science is really in every single aspect in our daily life, it’s very important that kids learn about it, learn the different aspects…there’s so many varities of science,” said Koral Hancharick, Executive Director of the museum.

The hope is for every floor of the museum to have an interactive component.

Anyone interested in checking out the new display may visit the museum, it’s located at 2018 Chester Avenue.

Buena Vista Museum is open Thurs. – Sat. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m, and Sun. 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
